About me & Writing

My name is Brandon Adkins. I am 30 years old. I’ve been in the culinary industry for 16 years and completed an associate's degree in science. All the while working full-time and through my schooling, I’ve been developing my lifelong dream of becoming an author, a published author at that. It’s taken me around 20 years of hard work during the little free time that I’ve had to finally complete my book. This book has every ounce of determination, diligence, emotion, and dedication to give you (my amazing audience) a chance to view my passion and creativity along with, hopefully, enjoyment of my lifelong work! I’m excited for more to come, and hopefully after reading my first book, you’ll be anxious for more to come. 

Reading has always been a passion of mine, even from an early age. I would love to get lost in a story and feel connected to the characters that authors have presented to us. With every book that I’ve read, I’ve become more passionate about starting my own story for people to feel connected to and get lost in. I have a strong passion for horror/psychological thrillers and instantly became hooked on an idea when I was 10 years old. You should have seen the writing at that age! Since then, I took that little boy's dream and turned it into a reality, striving to provide my own version of a story for individuals to connect with.

A message that I would get across to the world who read my story is all about evolution. At the beginning, it was all about a scary, spooky story. As the years went on, the story changed. It evolved. Why? The world was evolving. You may ask what kind of evolution I’m referring to. It’s quite simple. The evolution of female power. Many stories and movies were male dominated. They were controlled by men. As time went on, many stories and movies revolved around independent, driven, successful women. I wanted to evolve my story to make it clear that women are capable of surmounting any obstacle and adversity. I wanted the readers to see that a woman can be driven to use her wit and cleverness to come out on top of any challenge!

Through the years in the culinary industry, it has prevented me from completing the book faster, but it has given me the opportunity to make sure it had the time to evolve with the world and give it the strength and discipline that it truly deserves. The culinary industry makes you pay attention to detail in everything you do. This gave me my fuel to provide details throughout the story to the point where you can feel, smell, and think that you are inside their environment.

Outside my passion for writing and cooking, I’m an avid reader of individuals such as Shari Lapena, Freida McFadden, Penelope Douglas, Stephen King, and James Patterson.

I love to spend time watching as many horror/thriller movies as I can!
